The League of Women Voters of Elmhurst is set to host a candidates forum this Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Elmhurst City Hall, located at 209 N. York St. This event promises to be an informative gathering to help residents learn more about the local candidates as they prepare for the upcoming election on November 5.
The event will begin with a three-minute statement from Democrat Andrew Honig, who is running for the DuPage County Board (District 2). From 1:15 to 1:45 p.m., candidates Maria Sinkule (Democrat) and Cindy Cronin Cahill (Republican) will address the audience, both from District 1.
From 2 to 2:30 p.m., Illinois House Representatives (District 45), Democrat Marti Deuter and Republican Dennis Reboletti, will speak.
Later in the afternoon, attendees will hear presentations related to important local referendums. From 2:45 to 3:15 p.m., Elmhurst Park District executive director Jim Rogers and EPD president Kevin Graf will address the audience. This will be followed by a presentation from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, scheduled for 3:30 to 4 p.m., where either Board President Dan Hebreard or a district staff member will present.
This forum offers residents an invaluable opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their platforms and to engage with them on key issues facing Elmhurst. With several important races and referendums on the ballot, voter engagement is crucial in shaping the future of the community.
